About The Position

Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School (APR) is seeking experienced coaches for its High School Fall Sports program, specifically for Girls Volleyball. Coaches will report to the Athletic Director and are responsible for teaching skills and strategies, fostering a positive team culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, communicating with stakeholders, promoting academic accountability, and overseeing team equipment. APR is a tuition-free, public charter school serving students in Grades 5-12 from Boston, with a focus on a rigorous college preparatory program and empowering diverse learners. The school emphasizes a supportive and inclusive community that promotes college and career exploration, cultural immersion, and community service. APR's vision is for all students to graduate with the skills and self-awareness to pursue post-secondary education and careers joyfully.

Requirements

  • Prior coaching experience (high school or higher level preferred).
  • Knowledge of sport rules, techniques, and training methods.
  • Ability to positively motivate and manage high school athletes.
  • CPR/First Aid and Concussion Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Must be available for practices after school and for weekday/weekend games.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a varsity or junior varsity coach at the high school and/or club level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental and advanced techniques and strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with school, league, and state athletic regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes, families, and school staff.
  • Promote academic accountability and good citizenship among team members.
  • Oversee team equipment and uniforms.
  • Attend league meetings, trainings, and required school events.
  • Provide a safe environment for players during practices and matches.
  • Help with practices, player improvement, effective communication, and game day management.
  • Report any concerns about contest, practices, transportation, and student conduct directly to the Athletic Director after any incident.

Benefits

  • Assistant Coaches earn a stipend of $2,000.
  • Head Coaches earn a stipend of $5,000.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are provided.
