About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep (AECP) is New Jersey’s first public charter school serving both middle and high school students through an innovative early college and STEAM-focused model. Our mission is to ensure students graduate with strong academic mastery, college credits, industry credentials, and the skills needed to succeed in college, career, and life. Achievers Early College Prep is seeking a highly qualified, mission-aligned High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for college-level reading, writing, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate is an engaging, reflective educator who believes all students can achieve at high levels and is committed to culturally responsive teaching, literacy development, and data-driven instruction.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field (required)
  • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification in English Language Arts (required)
  • Experience teaching ELA at the high school level
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, curriculum development, and assessment practices
  • Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive teaching

  • Experience teaching in a high-performing charter school environment
  • Experience supporting college-preparatory or early college programs
  • Familiarity with intervention strategies for struggling readers and writers

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned ELA instruction aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards
  • Design lessons that emphasize close reading of complex texts, academic writing, critical analysis, and discussion
  • Implement instructional strategies that support diverse learners, including English language learners and students with IEPs
  • Integrate culturally responsive and inclusive texts that reflect students’ identities and experiences
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
  • Analyze student work and data regularly to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions
  • Maintain high academic expectations and support students in meeting college-readiness benchmarks
  • Create a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, participation, and academic integrity
  • Foster positive student relationships and a strong culture of accountability and belonging
  • Collaborate with colleagues, instructional leaders, and support staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Participate in professional development, coaching cycles, and data meetings
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and expectations
  • Engage in ongoing reflection and professional growth
