About The Position

The High School Drama Assistant is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Drama Advisor during all drama events for the applicable high school. The Assistant will partner with the Advisor to help complete auditions, casting, and rehearsing students throughout the season.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of techniques and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students and a staff.
Ability to work under pressure and remain calm.
Proficient in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience in drama, preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with the construction of stage scenery and properties
Assist with auditioning, casting, and rehearsing, as needed.
Organize the scene shop, prop room, or other areas as assigned.
Assist in hanging, focusing lighting equipment, set-up of microphones and speakers, scene painting and flameproofing, rigging, flying or repairing curtains and scenery.
Program cues and operate sound and/or light boards as assigned.
Mentor students as assigned.
Operate a variety of tools and technician equipment used in the theater productions; observe safety precautions and regulations.
Set up and operate lighting and sound equipment including computerized and manual boards.
Maintain records and inventories as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
