About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time (5 hours per week) High School Digital Discipleship/AI Skills Builder Mentor. This role is for an educator passionate about helping students grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially within a faith-centered environment aligned with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The mentor will create a classroom atmosphere that inspires curiosity, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles. This is a faith-forming role where the mentor is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, influencing students through instruction and personal example.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least two years of mentoring experience, preferably within a formal educational setting.
  • Genuine love for mentoring youth.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives.
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Ability to use varied instructional methods to support student learning.
  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in Digital Discipleship and AI.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.

  • Experience working with students who have specific learning disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong academic instruction in Digital Discipleship and AI Skills.
  • Actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Foster a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate.
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions.
  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities.
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making.
  • Bring a warm, energetic, and engaging presence to help students feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
  • Present material in a clear, organized, and meaningful way.
  • Foster curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Help students connect classroom learning to the world around them.
  • Create engaging lessons that encourage thoughtful discussion and practical application of concepts.
  • Distill complex information into understandable principles while maintaining strong pacing, organization, and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain purposeful classroom routines that support effective learning.
  • Create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics.
  • Monitor and communicate student progress consistently.
  • Maintain collaborative, timely, and positive communication with parents and colleagues.
  • Serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement.
