About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time High School Financial Literacy/Business Technology Mentor to join their mission-driven, faith-centered private school. This role involves mentoring students in financial literacy and business technology, fostering intellectual, spiritual, and social growth within a Christian environment. The mentor is expected to create an inspiring classroom atmosphere that encourages personal growth and reflects the school's values. This is a faith-forming role that requires active support, modeling, and teaching of principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The mentor will positively influence students through instruction and personal example, cultivating a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least two years of mentoring experience, preferably within a formal educational setting.
  • Genuine love for mentoring youth.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives.
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Use of varied instructional methods to support student learning.
  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in Financial Literacy and Business Technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction in Financial Literacy and Business Technology.
  • Create a classroom atmosphere that inspires curiosity, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles.
  • Actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Positively influence students through both instruction and personal example.
  • Foster a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate.
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues.
  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities.
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making.
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement.
  • Ensure personal conduct, public statements, and online presence reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.
