About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time High School Chemistry Mentor (around 5 hours a week) who is committed to academic excellence and student development in a faith-centered environment. This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially while supporting the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will create a classroom atmosphere that inspires curiosity, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles in daily mentoring and interactions. This position is considered a faith-forming role within the school community. In addition to providing strong academic instruction, the mentor is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The role requires a mentor who can positively influence students through both instruction and personal example, fostering a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least two years of mentoring experience, preferably within a formal educational setting.
  • Demonstrate a genuine love for mentoring youth.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives.
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Use of varied instructional methods to support student learning.

Responsibilities
