About The Position

Victory College Prep is seeking a High School Building Substitute Teacher to support its student-centered high school program. The role follows classroom teachers’ lesson plans and helps maintain structured, engaging classrooms that maximize instructional time. The substitute presents academic content using varied instructional strategies, builds positive relationships with students, communicates effectively with families, and uses restorative practices to support a positive classroom culture.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Substitute teaching license, or willingness to obtain one when hired.
• Collaborative and proactive approach to teaching.
• Competency in using technology in the classroom.
• Ability to report to work regularly and punctually.
• Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program.
• Ability to follow an age-appropriate curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans created by the teacher.
• Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time.
• Present academic content through a variety of instructional strategies to reach all learners.
• Communicate frequently and effectively with student families, promptly returning phone calls and answering emails.
• Proactively build meaningful, positive relationships with all students.
• Use restorative practices to build a positive classroom culture.
