About The Position

Bridge Boston Charter School is seeking a building substitute to provide classroom instruction and facilitate student learning when regular teachers are absent. Reporting to the 5th-8th DCI, this temporary position begins immediately and continues through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. The substitute will support the school’s mission and values while fostering a safe, orderly, inclusive classroom environment and working collaboratively with students, families, and staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Direct experience working with children.
Strong written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents or guardians, and staff.
Value diversity and demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity; experience supporting diverse needs and working with diverse populations.
Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful problem solver.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Strong team player with experience collaborating.
Commitment to lifelong learning and willingness to make and learn from mistakes.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole.

Responsibilities

Promote and support the school’s mission and values, demonstrating respect for students, families, and staff.
Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
Create a learning-conducive classroom appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Maintain school routines and the procedures of assigned classrooms.
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain reasonable conduct rules that encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
Communicate effectively with parents when needed.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and at designated times.
Participate in professional development scheduled for faculty.
Perform other duties as assigned.
