GEO Next Generation Academy - Indianapolis is a tuition-free, public charter school. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. We are a TAP school!

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from an accredited university
• Possess an Indiana Music Teaching License
• Knowledge in wind, percussion, and orchestra pedagogy
• Knowledge of Marching Band techniques
• Knowledge of Orchestra techniques
• Knowledge of Choir/Vocal techniques
• Knowledge of Theater and Drama techniques
• Ability to work with additional staff members and music colleagues
• Organized and good communication skill

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive Award-Winning Arts Program encompassing Grades 5-12 to include, but not limited to, Concert Band, Marching Band, Beginning Band, Orchestra, Drumline, Choir, Jazz, Theater, and Drama
• Direct and Organize Plays, Performances, and Concerts.
• Create K-12 “Feeder Program” for the Arts fostering excitement, enthusiasm and generating community interest in the Arts.
• Lead students to State Band and Vocal Competitions developing confidence and building student self-esteem.
• Meet with parents and community to promote programs, generate interest, and display student work and talent.
• Teach and actively plan sequentially for concert bands grades 6-12 (6th grade beginning band, 7th grade Intermediate, 8th grade advanced, 9-12 High School Concert Band).
• Teach one music history or music theory course to high school students
• Other extracurricular activities may include jazz band and pep band, Orchestra performances, Choir performances, Plays/Drama Nights
