About The Position

Providence Hall High School is seeking a dynamic and experienced High School Assistant Principal & Athletic Director to lead and enhance our athletic program. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for fostering student-athlete development, promoting sportsmanship, and building a culture of excellence within our athletic department. The Athletic Director will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the school's athletic program, including team management, budgeting, compliance, and community engagement. The Assistant Principal & Athletic Director plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of the school’s athletic programs while supporting broader administrative functions. This position ensures that athletics align with the school’s mission, promotes a positive school culture, and maintains high standards for student participation, behavior, and performance. This position requires regular evening and occasional weekend hours to support athletic events.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of proficiency with computers and digital systems (eligibility tracking, scheduling, communication tools, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen, mediate, and lead effectively in high-stress situations
  • Ability to build relationships and foster a positive, unified school culture
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to student development, school values, and the holistic growth of student-athletes
  • Ability to inspire and motivate coaches, athletes, and the broader school community
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Athletic Administration or coaching at the high school level
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Education, or a related field
  • Capacity to perform all responsibilities listed in this posting
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and professional references

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all athletic programs
  • Coordinate game-day operations, including event setup, staffing, and crowd management
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and league rules and regulations
  • Ensure consistency and alignment across all athletic programs, maintaining adherence to school values, expectations, and standards
  • Serve as the primary administrative presence at athletic events, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate athletic coaches
  • Address personnel concerns, including disciplinary action and termination when necessary
  • Provide ongoing support and professional development for coaching staff
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility, including academic and behavioral requirements
  • Support student discipline in alignment with school policies
  • Promote character, sportsmanship, and leadership among student-athletes
  • Ensure alignment between the athletic department and the school’s vision and mission
  • Help foster school spirit and community engagement through athletics and activities
  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, and student groups to support a positive school climate
  • Assist in the coordination, scheduling, and maintenance of athletic facilities
  • Communicate effectively regarding facility use, needs, and improvements
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of school spaces for practices and events
  • Demonstrate professionalism and composure in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations
  • Ensure timely follow-through on concerns, decisions, and communication
  • Communicate clearly with students, parents, coaches, and staff
  • Work collaboratively with school leadership and district personnel
  • Handle concerns by gathering multiple perspectives and making thoughtful, informed decisions
  • Communicate and coordinate with other schools, coaches, and athletic directors regarding schedules, events, and logistics
  • Ensure timely communication with officials and oversight organization (UHSAA) to support compliance and event operations
  • Assist the Principal in developing, managing, and maintaining the athletic budget
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure responsible use of funds
  • Help identify needs for equipment, uniforms, and program resources
  • Oversee the use and supervision of athletic facilities during practices and events
  • Ensure facilities are safe, prepared, and secured before, during, and after events
  • Coordinate with custodial and support staff for event needs and cleanup
  • Address and resolve issues related to facility use, safety, and supervision
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, coaches, and spectators
  • Address parent and community concerns related to athletics in a timely and respectful manner
  • Represent the school positively at athletic events and in the community
  • Proactively plan for seasonal needs, improvements, and long-term facility use
