About The Position

This course will examine several types of history-based games and historical forms of play, exploring how history simulations can be used by students and the public for educational, leisure, and entertainment purposes. These simulations will be assessed on the degree to which they represent and, perhaps also, misrepresent the past. Each game or form of play will be paired with readings to provide historical context, to encourage in-class discussion, and to provide a theoretical basis for assignments.
