The herbarium intern will assist curators in upgrading OWU’s research collections, mounting and repairing specimens, and packing and sending specimens to other museums. This role requires attention to detail and care in handling fragile and sometimes irreplaceable research specimens. Research collections of plants are shared among botanists around the world as a way to explore and document biological diversity. Key to this interchange is the careful organization, care, and documentation of dried samples of plants. An internship in herbarium curation prepares a student for careers and advanced studies in plant science, museum and archive management, and data science.
