Hemodialysis Technician
About The Position
The Hemodialysis Technician prepares, operates, and maintains hemodialysis equipment and helps care for patients during treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes setting up and monitoring dialysis equipment and supporting patients throughout their treatments. The technician works with Dialysis RNs to provide safe and effective dialysis services and uses patient-care and communication equipment, including the nurse call pager system, EMR, Bed Tracking System, and equipment for monitoring vital signs and patient weights. Success requires hemodialysis technical training, attention to safety and detail, and a caring approach to patients.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous health care experience as a CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, or similar role, required upon hire.
- Basic Life Support - CPR, required upon hire.
- Within six months, must hold one of the following: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician; Certified Nursing Assistant: TN; Emergency Medical Technician: TN; Certified Clinical Medical Assistant; Certified Medical Assistant AAMA; Certified Medical Assistant NHA; National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT; National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP; Registered Medical Assistant AMT; Registered Medical Assistant; or Cert Med Asst - MMCI.
- Good communication skills, including a pleasant phone manner, and good patient-care techniques.
