About The Position
Patient Care Technicians provide high-quality care to patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the most advanced stage of chronic kidney disease. They monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording statistics, initiating cannulation, observing patients, and setting up hemodialysis machines. The role combines technical skills with a passion for caring for people and building strong patient relationships to improve quality of life.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Desire to care for people.
- Comfort working around blood and needles.
- Experienced PCTs must hold current certification from BONENT, NNCC, NNCO, or, where applicable, another state-approved certification.
- Experienced PCTs must have current BLS/CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient statistics.
- Initiate cannulation.
- Observe patients during treatment.
- Set up hemodialysis machines.
