Hemodialysis Technician
About The Position
The Hemodialysis Technician prepares, operates, and maintains hemodialysis equipment and helps care for patients during hemodialysis treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves setting up and monitoring dialysis equipment and supporting patients throughout treatments. The technician works with dialysis RNs to provide safe and effective dialysis services and uses patient-care and communication equipment, including a nurse call pager system, EMR, Bed Tracking System, equipment for monitoring vital signs, and patient scales. Strong communication skills, a pleasant phone manner, careful attention to safety and detail, and a caring approach to patient care are important.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous health care experience as a CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, or similar, upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (CPR), upon hire.
- Within six months, obtain one of the following: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician; Certified Nursing Assistant: TN; Emergency Medical Technician: TN; Certified Clinical Medical Assistant; Certified Medical Assistant AAMA; Certified Medical Assistant NHA; National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT; National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP; Registered Medical Assistant AMT; Registered Medical Assistant; or Cert Med Asst - MMCI.
- Good communication skills, including a pleasant phone manner, and good patient-care techniques.
