About The Position

Emory University School of Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time Hematopathology faculty member. This position is based at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA, and involves joining a team of nine hematopathologists. The role supports Emory's healthcare system, including the Winship Cancer Institute, and community hospitals. Responsibilities include diagnostic expertise, reviewing various laboratory specimens and tests related to hematologic neoplasms, participating in multidisciplinary conferences, and contributing to the training of fellows, residents, medical students, and allied health science students. Opportunities for clinical, translational, and collaborative research are available. Academic appointment and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematopathology.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Georgia.
  • Strong diagnostic expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • Commitment to academic scholarship in hematopathology and, if applicable, in molecular genetic pathology.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional board certification or eligibility in Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic expertise in hematopathology.
  • Review bone marrow/lymph node biopsy specimens and outside/expert consultation cases.
  • Review flow cytometry immunophenotyping profiles, single-gene molecular diagnostic tests, FISH panels, and cytogenetics studies for hematologic neoplasms.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary leukemia/lymphoma conferences.
  • Engage in the training and education of fellows, residents, medical students, hematopathology laboratory staff, and students of allied health science programs.
  • If applicable, share clinical service responsibilities for molecular genetic pathology faculty reviewing targeted NGS panels for hematologic neoplasms and solid tumors.
