About The Position

The Hematology Supervisor is responsible and accountable for overseeing the performance of the department and staff to ensure accurate, efficient and timely testing of all patient samples according to approved procedures, standards and practices. He/She provides leadership to staff in the department and is responsible for maintaining budget, staffing, quality control, quality assurance, safety, education, development, communication, certification and daily operation of assigned lab section.

Requirements

• Overseeing the performance of the department and staff to ensure accurate, efficient and timely testing of all patient samples according to approved procedures, standards and practices.
• Provides leadership to staff in the department.
• Responsible for maintaining budget, staffing, quality control, quality assurance, safety, education, development, communication, certification and daily operation of assigned lab section.
• Sufficient knowledge, experience & technical ability to effectively operate assigned laboratory section.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and provides leadership as related to laboratory technical and clinical practices.
• Establishes and maintains all quality assurance programs related to department and reports on a monthly basis.
• Establishes, maintains & monitors a comprehensive quality control & quality assurance program.
• Reviews quality control & documents unacceptable results and corrective actions taken.
• Able to perform lab procedures and assist staff as necessary.
• Responsible for all aspects of computer system including file building and maintenance.
• Displays organizational skills and has sufficient knowledge, experience & technical ability to effectively operate assigned laboratory section.
• Provides leadership as related to current industry standards in testing.
• Establishes, maintains, and monitors a competency assessment program.
• Monitors Proficiency Testing Program
• Compiles and reports appropriate data required.
• Able to develop PDSA where needed
• Monitors appropriate quality indicators.
