About The Position

University Medical Partners (UMP), a partner of Stanford Medicine, is seeking a full-time BC/BE Medical Hematologist/Oncologist to join our comprehensive Cancer Center in San Jose, CA. This is a community-based practice model within the Cancer Center South Bay, which offers a wide range of cancer services including medical oncology, breast cancer, hematologic cancer and blood disorders, lung and thoracic, endocrine tumor, GI cancer, radiation oncology, sarcoma, gynecologic cancer, head and neck cancer, and urologic cancer treatment options. The physician will join nine other Hematology/Oncology physicians and will be supported by a team of NPs/PAs, infusion RNs, an on-site Pharmacist, and administrative staff. The practice benefits from a robust built-in Primary Care referral base, an on-site infusion center and lab with advanced imaging, and a radiation therapy center and surgery center on-site for close multi-disciplinary collaboration. NP/PA-led Bone Marrow biopsies are performed on-site. Clinical Advice Services (CAS) handle after-hour phone calls, with NP/PA support for in-basket work. Physicians typically see an average of 18-25 patients per day in clinic. The role includes Q9 rotating coverage of inpatient consultation services at three local hospitals: Good Samaritan Hospital, O’Connor Hospital, and El Camino (Los Gatos) Hospital. There is close collaboration with Stanford University School of Medicine Faculty physicians, including participation in Tumor Boards and collaboration on clinical research, serving a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • BC/BE Medical Hematologist/Oncologist
  • Full-time availability
  • Ability to obtain CA medical license
  • Proficiency in EPIC Electronic Medical Records

Responsibilities

  • Provide general Medical Hematology/Oncology care within a community-based practice model.
  • Collaborate with a team of nine other Hematology/Oncology physicians.
  • Work closely with ancillary support staff including NPs/PAs, infusion RNs, and an on-site Pharmacist.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary collaboration with on-site radiation therapy and surgery centers.
  • Conduct or oversee NP/PA-led Bone Marrow biopsies.
  • Provide inpatient consultation services at local hospitals on a rotating basis (Q9 coverage).
  • Collaborate with Stanford University School of Medicine Faculty physicians, including participation in Tumor Boards.
  • Engage in clinical research collaboration.
  • Manage patient care using EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
