About The Position
Prime Healthcare Illinois Medical Group is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Hematologist/Oncologist for St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois. The employed position offers the opportunity to build a busy, community-focused practice serving Kankakee County and the surrounding region, with an established referral base and growing oncology demand. The practice may include solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and benign hematology, supported by a modern outpatient clinic and infusion therapy services. The position is part of a collaborative, hospital-affiliated multispecialty physician network and uses the Epic EMR platform. The compensation package includes a three-year base salary guarantee of $500,000–$650,000+, productivity incentives or RVU-based bonuses, and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. Relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits are available. The role is full-time and day shift.
Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
- Fellowship-trained from an accredited program.
- Eligible for an Illinois medical license.
- Strong clinical skills, a patient-centered approach, and ability to work as a team player.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
- Manage benign hematology consultations and non-malignant blood disorders as needed.
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, including systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted agents.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including radiology, pathology, surgery, radiation oncology, and palliative care, to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in tumor board discussions and quality initiatives.
- Deliver patient-centered care with an emphasis on communication, shared decision-making, and supportive services.
