Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology.
- Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, or clinical laboratory science.
- MLT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) registry or equivalent.
- Applicants with Bachelor’s degree require two (2) years of experience in the designated specialty.
- Applicants with Associate’s degree require four (4) years of experience in the designated specialty.
- Current laboratory instrumentation includes Siemens Atellica CI1900 Chemistry Analyzers, Sysmex XN 2000, ACL TOP 350 Coagulation analyzers, and EPIC Computer System.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred experience in an acute care facility.
- Blood Bank experience is a plus.
- Previous experience and competency training are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and precisely performs and report laboratory tests under indirect supervision in a timely manner.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards (CAP, CLIA, and DNV).
- Assumes responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
- Assists in orientation of new laboratory personnel, promoting teamwork, positive attitude, initiative, and professionalism in keeping with the mission of the hospital.
- Interacts and responds to patients, physicians, and fellow hospital staff in a professional manner, remembering that patient care is our first concern.
- Handles confidential information regarding patient records.
- Performs all work in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
- Have a strong technical knowledge of clinical laboratory science and instrumentation.
- Assist staff with competency assessment and continuing education.
- Maintain and develop procedures and policies in compliance with CAP regulatory agency.
- Direct and oversee all troubleshooting aspects of the section.
- Prepare and review monthly QA/QC data for laboratory quality manager’s review.
- Assist with inventory management in respective section.
- Collaborate closely with the lab management team on operations planning, process improvement, and quality initiatives.
