Helper Operator 1
About The Position
This position is for an industrial Helper with a focus on assisting with machinery maintenance and repair. The role requires the ability to follow instructions, identify tools and safety risks, and perform various tasks related to disassembling, repairing, testing, and maintaining mechanical equipment. The Helper will also be responsible for cleaning, lubricating, and performing diagnostic tests on machinery, as well as using precision measuring instruments and operating various tools and equipment for moving and positioning materials. A strong commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.
Requirements
- 1-12 months of experience working as an industrial Helper.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Must meet all qualifications below.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days as needed.
- Must be able to meet all physical demands.
- Must have experience of an industrial construction project.
- Must have all the required tools.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Good reading comprehension.
- Ability to work with others – team player.
- Ability to work independently – minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Assist with detecting minor to major problems with machines and equipment.
- Assist with disassembling, repairing and/or replacing parts with equipment.
- Assist with performing tests to ensure machinery is running smoothly.
- Assist with completing preventative maintenance on machinery, installing, servicing and repairing mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems steam valves, steam traps, steam or water coils, radiators, water softeners, unit heaters, condensate and circulating pumps and production machines.
- Assist with cleaning and lubricating machinery.
- Assist with performing basic diagnostic tests and checking performance of machinery.
- Assist with using precision measuring and leveling equipment such as rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Assist with operating engine lathes, grinders and files.
- Assist with unloading, inspecting and moving equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
- Assist with using rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and come a long to move equipment/materials into place.
- Follows directions from supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
