About The Position

The Helper - 1st Year constructs, builds, and maintains overhead and underground electric facilities with primary voltages up to 15 kV. The work includes installing, removing, and maintaining line facilities and services, working with transformers and other electrical equipment, operating trucks and equipment, and working on poles in a range of locations and conditions. The employee must be available for on-call duty, emergency response, irregular hours, and out-of-town assignments as required. The position is onsite and requires the employee to live within 20 miles of the work location. A pre-employment Fitness for Duty exam is required. Entergy expects employees to work additional hours, alternate locations, or additional duties when needed for storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations.

Requirements

• Live within 20 miles of the work location.
• Use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments as required.
• Have good communication skills.
• Be able to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Complete a pre-employment Fitness for Duty exam.
• Be authorized to work in the United States; the employer will not sponsor work visas.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, and maintain overhead and underground primary line facilities and secondary services.
• Install overhead and underground transformers and wire all types of transformer banks.
• Install and wire regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
• Drive different sizes and types of trucks.
• Operate equipment, including aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks.
• Read and understand job prints and sketches.
• Recognize materials and understand their functions.
• Set and climb poles of all sizes in open areas, rear alleys, and energized lines.
• Be available for on-call duty and emergency response.
