About The Position

Chicago Jewish Day School is a multi-denominational, progressive Jewish day school serving approximately 235 students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Grounded in Jewish values, CJDS offers an integrated, inquiry-based, and experiential curriculum that emphasizes excellence in both Judaic and General Studies. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Hebrew Teacher who believes deeply in a growth mindset and fosters a positive, structured learning environment where all students can thrive. The ideal candidate understands the unique academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of diverse learners and brings enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the daily work of teaching. This educator demonstrates strong instructional expertise and effective classroom management, skillfully meeting the needs of a diverse range of students through targeted support, enrichment opportunities, and differentiated instruction. A strong commitment to community is essential, including active collaboration with colleagues, meaningful participation in school events, and partnership within an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a safe and effective setting for instruction. The successful candidate will also develop and sustain collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues. Fluency in Hebrew is required, along with knowledge of and experience teaching Hebrew to children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluency in the Hebrew language
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional standards
  • Fluency in Hebrew is required
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching Hebrew to children

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience implementing the Bishvil Ha-Ivrit or similar inquiry-based curricula is highly valued.
