About The Position

Responsible for performing general, non-mechanical laborer duties throughout the Plant. This includes sight inspecting and removing defects or any extraneous material from product, preparing raw materials for production, and depositing fatback into cans by hand or meat depositor. The role requires physically lifting up to 100 pounds as needed. Responsibilities also include container inspections (seam inspections, proper lid placements, and proper fill levels), keeping the work area clean (sweeping, dumping, and disposing of materials), and understanding how certain equipment operates and how to stop it if the automatic function fails. Employees must not leave their assigned work area without permission from a Supervisor and/or Leadperson and must report any mechanical and/or safety problems immediately. Adherence to common safety practices/guidelines, including wearing protective clothing and equipment, and maintaining plant hygiene standards for high product integrity are essential. Following food safety, legality, and quality policies and procedures, such as GMP’s, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, and plant security, is also required. The role involves assisting in loading and unloading kettles in the retorts and operating a forklift, electric pallet jack, bobcat, and hoist when needed. Other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson.
