About The Position

Ames Construction is seeking motivated individuals interested in starting or advancing a career in construction for heavy civil projects in the Minneapolis–St. Paul Metro and surrounding states. These apprenticeship opportunities provide hands-on training and exposure to a variety of crafts, including heavy equipment operation, truck driving, concrete carpentry, pipefitting, millwright work, and general labor. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while developing the skills needed for a long-term career in the construction industry.

Requirements

Interest in pursuing a career in heavy civil construction
Willingness to learn new skills and follow direction from supervisors and experienced team members
Commitment to working safely and following OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude
Basic communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage time effectively and stay engaged in assigned tasks
Dependable transportation to and from job sites
Must be at least 18 years old

Nice To Haves

Valid Driver’s License may be required (depending on role)

Responsibilities

Hands-on training and exposure to a variety of crafts, including heavy equipment operation, truck driving, concrete carpentry, pipefitting, millwright work, and general labor.
Learn from experienced professionals while developing the skills needed for a long-term career in the construction industry.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.).
Work non-traditional hours as needed to support project schedules.
Safely use or learn to use hand tools and power tools.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying site conditions (including trenches).
Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying materials.
Lift or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
