About The Position

Martin Concrete Construction is seeking a Local Heavy Haul CDL Driver (Class A) to join their growing team in the Greater Atlanta area. This role is for a safety-focused, dependable professional who takes pride in operating specialized equipment and delivering exceptional service. In this role, you'll safely transport heavy construction equipment and materials between facilities, active job sites, and third-party customers, playing a vital role in keeping projects moving by ensuring equipment arrives safely, on time, and ready for use. While this is primarily a local position, occasional overnight travel (1–2 nights per week) and weekend work may be required based on project demands.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations within the past three (3) years
  • Experience operating Landoll and Lowboy trailers
  • Strong knowledge of load securement practices and DOT transportation regulations
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
  • Ability to successfully complete required DOT physical examinations
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and understand safety manuals, road signs, operating instructions, and transportation documents
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork

  • Experience transporting heavy construction equipment and oversized loads preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles with Landoll and Lowboy trailers
  • Transport heavy construction equipment and oversized loads to Martin Concrete job sites and customer locations
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including fluid levels, tires, lights, grease points, and required DOT inspections
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and construction materials as needed
  • Properly secure all cargo using approved load securement methods and equipment
  • Deliver equipment safely, accurately, and on schedule
  • Communicate with superintendents, foremen, mechanics, and dispatch regarding pickups, deliveries, equipment status, and any mechanical concerns
  • Complete Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proofs of Delivery (PODs), electronic logs, and daily paperwork accurately
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and electronic logging requirements
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including permits, route restrictions, and weight requirements
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and maintain all required certifications
  • Obtain company-sponsored certifications, including: Forklift, Boom Lift, Load Securement (Finish Safe)
  • Assist with truck maintenance, inspections, and cleaning during slower periods
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE while on job sites
