About The Position

All Things Metal is hiring a material handler/forklift operator to work at its shop near 195th Avenue and Jomax in Arizona. This role supports structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection operations, primarily by keeping production supplied and moving materials safely around the shop and yard. The position also assists with receiving, inventory documentation, delivery staging and loading, and yard organization. Materials may be 40 to 50 feet long, and a single forklift pick may weigh up to 7,000 pounds. Requirements

• Pass a background check and drug screen.
• Be able to work outside in the heat.
• Be able to stand for most of the shift.
• Be able to lift more than 50 pounds.
• Pass a written and practical exam demonstrating competence as a heavy forklift operator.
• Be able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and complete tasks while maintaining positive interpersonal interactions.
• Be willing to learn.
• Have reliable transportation to arrive at work on time.
• Be able to use or willing to learn a paperless management system.
• Have professional working proficiency in English.

Nice To Haves

• Heavy operating equipment experience.

• Proper hand signaling experience.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle production materials by staging them in designated racks, moving material into and out of primer departments, and helping fabrication teams move materials and assemblies into and out of production bays.
• Move heavy equipment around shop equipment, including expensive equipment.
• Receive materials by verifying them against receivers, identifying and documenting damage, recording heat numbers and rack locations, and entering materials into the inventory management system.
• Stage materials for delivery in an organized manner to expedite loading assemblies onto semi-trailers.
• Load materials onto semi-trailers or assist with loading as required.
• Keep the yard organized and ensure material is stored on the rack designated in the management software.
• Water the yard as required.
• Perform daily forklift inspections.
