About The Position

Mustang Cat is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians for shop and field service roles in El Campo, Texas. The role involves repairing and maintaining Caterpillar construction equipment, from compact machinery to large earthmoving units, and supporting regional job sites and customers. Technicians diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied-brand equipment, perform preventive maintenance and parts installation, and return machines to working condition in shop or field settings. The position may involve working independently or collaborating with service mentors. Technician level and compensation are based on skill set, experience, and training.

Requirements

• Own the tools necessary to perform repairs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, and fuel systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience using Cat ET or similar diagnostic software.
• Prior experience in construction equipment service or military equipment repair.

Nice To Haves

• Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG and arc welding, gouging, and torch use.
• Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor components.
• Manufacturer or dealership training in construction equipment repair.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar or competitor-brand machinery.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied-brand construction equipment.
• Perform diagnostics using Cat ET and other software tools.
• Service electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and undercarriage systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance and parts installation.
• Restore equipment to working condition in a shop or field setting.
• Work independently or collaborate with service mentors as needed.
