About The Position

Mustang Cat is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians to support shop and field service operations in Beaumont, Texas. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment, including dozers, loaders, compactors, and excavators. Technicians may work in a shop or from a field service truck, helping return equipment to peak performance. Career levels and compensation are determined by skill set, knowledge, and experience.

Requirements

Own the proper tools to perform repairs.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems.
Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, and track systems.
Experience using Cat ET or other diagnostic software.
Prior earthmoving equipment or military mechanic experience.
Ability to work independently in a shop or field setting.

Nice To Haves

Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG and arc welding, gouging, and oxyacetylene torch use.
Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor systems.
Dealer or manufacturer training in construction equipment systems.
Certification or technical school background in diesel mechanics.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair heavy and light construction equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance, part installation, and rebuilds.
Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems using Cat ET.
Install and repair components including transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, and fuel systems.
Provide field service support using a company-provided truck for applicable roles.
Work independently or with mentorship in a structured shop environment.
