About The Position

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join their professional team as a Heavy Equipment Technician. Requirements

  • Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician or a second- or third-year registered apprentice.
  • Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points).
  • Must have own tools.
  • Available and willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
  • Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact, and aerial equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs, testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance, and work orders.
  • Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Comfortable with working in both the shop and the field.
