About The Position

EquipmentShare is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician (Mechanic) at its rental facility in Rochester, Minnesota. The technician will maintain and repair a variety of customer- and company-owned heavy equipment, machinery, aerial lifts, and tools, with the opportunity to work on a new fleet. The role uses EquipmentShare technology to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track service intervals, order parts, and diagnose equipment problems using information from numerous makes and models.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours. The role is subject to on-call scheduling, with additional compensation for on-call work. EquipmentShare provides year-round OEM training and access to industry-leading diagnostic tools.

This is a safety-sensitive position. An offer is contingent on passing a 10-panel drug screen, and employment is contingent on passing a background check. Some roles require drug testing depending on job responsibilities.

Requirements

• Must own tools applicable to the position.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to move, stand, stoop, and bend freely.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Passing a 10-panel drug screen is a condition of an employment offer.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma; trade school certificate preferred.
• Experience in field service, maintenance, and repair preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Practice safe job practices when repairing equipment.
• Use laptops and tablets comfortably to support work.
• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools, using a high degree of independent judgment.
• Use technology to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track machine service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues.
• Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
• Maintain complete and timely paperwork or electronic documentation of work performed in work orders each day.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
