About The Position

EquipmentShare is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician (Mechanic) at its rental facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. The technician maintains and repairs a variety of customer- and company-owned heavy equipment, machinery, aerial lifts, and tools. Mechanics work on the company’s newest fleet and use EquipmentShare’s technology to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track service intervals, order parts, and diagnose equipment issues using data from a wide range of makes and models. The position involves working independently to identify root causes and corrective actions, while supporting safe, efficient equipment service. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Overtime pay is offered after 40 hours, and the role is subject to on-call scheduling with additional compensation. Company-provided OEM training is available year-round. Employment is contingent on passing a background check; this safety-sensitive position also requires passing a 10-panel drug screen.

Requirements

Must own tools applicable to the position.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
High school diploma.
Ability to move, stand, stoop, and bend freely.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Passing a 10-panel drug screen is required for this safety-sensitive position.
Passing a background check is required for employment.

Nice To Haves

Trade school certificate preferred.
Experience in field service, maintenance, and repair preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

Practice safe job practices while repairing equipment.
Use laptops and tablets comfortably to support work.
Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment and tools, using a high degree of independent judgment.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and promptly each day.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
