About The Position

Talon Recruiting is seeking a Heavy Equipment Road Mechanic to join a leading distributor of material processing equipment. This role will cover Laurel, MD, and involves responding to service calls on remote job sites for various types of equipment including crushers, screeners, conveyors, shredders, and grinders. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining equipment, performing major repair work, and conducting preventative maintenance to ensure the rental fleet and customer equipment remain in good operating condition.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in heavy equipment repairs and routine maintenance
  • US work authorization
  • Driver’s License: Valid, unrestricted
  • Clean motor vehicle record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Proficiency with required technology, including iOS and MS Windows products
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy equipment repair and maintenance: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Hydraulics: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Diesel engines: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Welding experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • CDL preferred but not required
  • Vocational or technical school certification is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of crushing and screening equipment a plus
  • MSHA certification

Responsibilities

  • Consistently ensures a safe work environment for self and others
  • Respond to service calls on remote job sites for equipment such as crushers, screeners, conveyors, shredders, and grinders
  • Ability to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, service, and maintain equipment, according to technical manuals, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, and spare parts manuals
  • Perform major repair work, such as removal and replacement of components
  • Perform all necessary repairs to keep our rental fleet and customer equipment in good operating condition
  • Maintain tools and keep truck clean
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and recommend wear parts replacement to avoid unnecessary repair and downtime
  • Willingness to work under various job site conditions, and travel to different sites within the Carolinas
  • Work in a proactive, safe manner in compliance with all safety protocols and training
  • Document work performed and parts used, to ensure timely and accurate billing
  • Check messages on a regular basis and respond accordingly
  • Provide daily report to service manager
  • Must be able to diagnose and repair equipment, both independently and with help from others
  • Represent the company in a positive, professional manner
