About The Position
The Town of Stony Plain is currently recruiting a temporary full-time Heavy Equipment Operator. Reporting to the Foreman, Roads, this position will be responsible for asphalt and gravel road maintenance including ditches, culverts and bridges, ice control, snow removal, street sweeping, dust control, pavement marking, sidewalks and traffic control devices. The Operator will also assist other divisions as required.
Requirements
- Experience in operating motor graders and snowplow trucks
- Experience operating a variety of heavy and light equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of and commitment to construction worksite safety practices
- Able and willing to work weekends and evening overtime shifts as required
- Available to participate in a rotational on-call schedule
- Physically capable of using hand tools, lifting objects over 25 lbs., working in uncomfortable positions, standing and walking throughout the day, and working effectively in adverse weather conditions
- Experience with heavy equipment such as graders, backhoes, loaders, street sweepers, snowplow trucks, and skid steers
- Class 3 Alberta Operators License with air brake endorsement
- 3-5 years of related experience operating motor graders and other heavy equipment
- High School Diploma
