About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town of Prosper’s water and wastewater systems and related facilities. The role operates heavy equipment to install, repair, and maintain water lines, wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters, supporting the safe and reliable operation of the Town’s utility infrastructure. The Town of Prosper offers a hiring range of $49,412.01–$56,823.81, TMRS retirement benefits with a 2-to-1 match, medical, dental, and vision benefits effective the first of the month following the start date, flexible scheduling opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and wellness benefits.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in water/wastewater system maintenance, repair, and/or construction.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid Class A CDL license, or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
Class II Wastewater Collection license, or ability to obtain one within one year.
Class C Water Distribution license, or ability to obtain one within one year.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Responsibilities

Perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on water and wastewater systems and related facilities.
Operate heavy equipment, including backhoes, skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, and dump trucks.
Install, repair, and maintain water lines, wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters.
Use equipment safely and efficiently while supporting the reliability of the Town’s utility infrastructure.
