About The Position

WM is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator I to work at a waste disposal or recycling site in Commerce City, Colorado. The operator uses heavy equipment, including bulldozers, scrapers, and front-end loaders, to support facility operations. The role follows strict safety procedures and company operating policies, and includes equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, recordkeeping, and moving raw materials and finished components. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The normal setting is a shop or field environment.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Ability to work independently, take accountability for following safety guidelines, communicate with colleagues, and problem-solve independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance, and maintain accurate records.
• Move and position raw materials and finished components using material-moving equipment.
• Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
