About The Position

Waste Connections is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, and man-lifts. This role involves diagnosing and repairing powertrain, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as performing power washing and safety checks. The mechanic will also be responsible for completing required paperwork using equipment maintenance software, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Additionally, the position requires responding to emergency breakdowns, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and potentially participating in equipment operator training.

Requirements

Clean Driving Record
Trustworthy and possess a high-degree of integrity
Self-directed and comfortable working alone
Accustomed to changes in priorities and responding professionally to urgent matters
3+ years’ experience working with heavy equipment
Must provide own personal tools and tool box.

Nice To Haves

Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus!

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of powertrain, electrical and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment.
Perform power washing on heavy equipment during routine preventative maintenance.
Complete required paperwork utilizing equipment maintenance software program associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Review and complete repairs identified on Daily Inspection Reports.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns that may take place in the transfer station.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Participate in equipment operator training on best practices on maintenance and proper use of equipment.
