About The Position

JP Logistics & Consulting LLC (JPLC) is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic EVT to support Picatinny Arsenal, LRC Maintenance, Supply, and Transportation services that are crucial for the installation’s mission. This role involves analyzing malfunctions, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining a variety of emergency vehicle equipment, with a specific focus on fire apparatus (including Aerial, Foam Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical Systems, and Advanced Electrical Systems) and commercial equipment.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience as an Emergency Vehicle Mechanic in an acknowledged commercial or governmental repair program.
  • Full knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and repair both gasoline and diesel-powered internal combustion engines associated with power trains, air and hydraulic brake systems, and all other vehicular component parts.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and publications to interpret mechanical specifications, tolerance limits, and troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain an applicable military driver’s license within 30 days.
  • Must possess Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification.
  • Be a citizen of the U.S.
  • Possess the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge and ability to perform simple arithmetic.
  • Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess excellent ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Possess the ability to work with minimal Government oversight.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • May require CDL endorsements for equipment/vehicles operated.
  • Specific positions require individuals to pass an annual physical examination.
  • Specific positions may require the individual to possess or obtain a security clearance and/or pass a National Agency check.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes malfunctions, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains emergency vehicle equipment, including fire apparatus (Aerial, Foam Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical Systems, and Advanced Electrical Systems) and commercial equipment.
  • Diagnoses the source of trouble and determines the extent of repairs required.
  • Replaces worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinds and adjusts valves; rebuilds carburetors; overhauls transmissions; and repairs fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
  • Determines the general condition of vehicles or equipment, the nature of malfunctions, and the extent of needed repairs using equipment such as aligning machines, test equipment, gauges, oscilloscopes, stroboscopes, dynamometers, and wheel balancing equipment.
  • Checks condition and replaces all fluids, coolants, and lubricants as needed.
  • Uses hoists, hand tools, power tools, and power equipment such as valve refining machines, brake drum lathes, and aligning machines.
  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment.
  • Specifically, services and maintains fire department pumpers, rescue vehicles, aerial devices, tankers, and wildland apparatus.
  • Performs general preventive maintenance as assigned.
  • Keeps the work area clean and orderly.
  • Provides assistance to lower-classification employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
