About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant crushing equipment, screening machinery, conveyors, and mobile equipment. This role involves performing daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production standards. The position requires adherence to MSHA safety guidelines and company policies, as well as the ability to document maintenance activities accurately. Successful candidates must also meet specific "Fit for Duty" requirements, including medical fitness and the ability to perform essential physical functions.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of rock quarry experience required.
  • Proven experience as a Quarry Mobile Mechanic or similar role in the maintenance of rock mobile machinery.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in quarry operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform work on a computer.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, which include, but are not limited to: lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and stooping.

Nice To Haves

  • MSHA certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to MSHA safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, prioritizing safety at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections of plant crushing equipment, screening machinery, and conveyors to assess for wear and tear, documenting any parts or systems that require repair or servicing.
  • Continuously monitor mobile equipment and systems to maintain an uninterrupted flow of materials.
  • Take immediate corrective actions to clear any blockages and ensure smooth, continuous operations that meet production standards.
  • Support mobile maintenance management through comprehensive and accurate records, including daily maintenance logs, parts inventory, repair schedules, and service reports to ensure efficient operations.
  • Respond swiftly to mechanical breakdowns or failures to minimize downtime, ensuring quick restoration of mobile operations and consistent productivity.
  • Plan and execute routine preventive maintenance tasks to reduce equipment breakdowns and extend the lifespan of mobile machinery.
  • Oversee greasing, lubrication, and minor repairs to keep all mobile equipment running efficiently.
