About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy-duty off-road construction and industrial equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Experience repairing heavy off-road equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines.
  • Experience diagnosing hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with driveline, steering, suspension, braking, and powertrain components.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to use computerized diagnostic software and equipment.
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in industrial, steel mill, mining, construction, quarry, aggregate, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Journeyman certification or equivalent heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, John Deere, Hitachi, Liebherr, or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre- and post-operational inspections on heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, differentials, driveline components, steering systems, brakes, and suspensions.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, and component replacement.
  • Complete preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and inspections.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as required.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment to access and repair components.
  • Operate equipment after repairs to verify proper operation.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Order and maintain inventory of repair parts and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
