Heavy Equipment Mechanic (EVT lll)
About The Position
Tessera is seeking an experienced and detailed Heavy Equipment Mechanic (EVT III) with a positive attitude. This role involves performing maintenance and minor repairs on a variety of equipment including Aircraft Rescue & Fire-Fighting (ARFF) vehicles, Fire Apparatus vehicles, wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment. The mechanic will accomplish repairs and services according to established technical manuals and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems, and understanding technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics for proper diagnosis and repair. The role also entails performing major repair jobs, maintaining operational vehicle maintenance schedules, and completing various reports. Additionally, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic (EVT III) will train employees on job tasks, monitor employee performance for efficiency and understanding, maintain professionalism, and coach/mentor employees. This position requires maintaining professionalism in appearance and demeanor, recording daily personnel attendance, and tracking absences and tardiness.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience required.
- ASE (T-1 through T-7, and L-2) certification or the ability to obtain one required.
- EVT (F-1 through F-6 and A-1 through A-3) Level III Fire Apparatus and ARFF vehicle technician certification or the ability to obtain one required.
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
- A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
- Satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship must be furnished.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance of equipment to include, but not limited to, Aircraft Rescue & Fire-Fighting (ARFF) vehicles, Fire Apparatus vehicles, wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.
- Accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals and IAW National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
- Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems IAW with OEM recommendations and NFPA standards.
- Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.
- Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies and installation of components.
- Maintain Operational Vehicle Maintenance schedules.
- Responsible for various reports- i.e., schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, various employee documentations, correct time keeping, and accident reports.
- Train employees on job tasks and assignments to ensure complete understanding of work assigned.
- Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time and performance of work tasks.
- Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
- Coach, mentor, and resolve employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.
