About The Position

Rogers Group is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Diesel Technician for their Carolina SMA operations. This role reports directly to the Shop Foreman and is responsible for servicing a variety of asphalt and milling equipment. The successful candidate will perform repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on heavy equipment, with a focus on diagnosing and repairing issues affecting major components like engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling, and electrical systems. The role also involves parts familiarization, welding and fabrication, operating mobile equipment and company vehicles, and working with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on heavy equipment.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate, as needed.
  • Heavy equipment parts familiarization including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost of heavy equipment parts.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment.
  • Operate a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
  • Capable of working with limited supervision and scheduling own work.
  • Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70lbs.
  • Ability to climb and perform work on heights of 20 feet.
  • Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing a variety of asphalt and milling equipment.
  • Performing repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing service issues affecting major components such as engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling and electrical systems.
  • Performing heavy or major maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Performing routine scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Completing maintenance and work order repair records.
  • Inspecting machines for abnormalities or defects.
  • Welding and fabricating, as needed.
  • Familiarization with heavy equipment parts including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost.
  • Performing housekeeping duties and work area checks.
  • Operating mobile equipment.
  • Operating a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
  • Developing working relationships with other employees and vendors.
