About The Position

Mustang Cat, the authorized Caterpillar® dealer for Southeast Texas, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Service Dispatcher to coordinate field technicians supporting Caterpillar construction equipment across the Houston area. This position focuses specifically on dispatching heavy equipment service technicians, coordinating mechanical repairs, and supporting field service operations in a fast-paced construction equipment environment. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring timely technician scheduling, accurate communication, and high equipment uptime so our customers experience world-class service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2+ years of heavy equipment service dispatching or technician dispatch experience (construction equipment, diesel, industrial, or field service environment preferred)
  • Experience dispatching mechanics or field service technicians
  • Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of heavy equipment or construction machinery
  • Excellent customer service skills with a high sense of urgency
  • Professional communication skills (verbal, written, phone, email)
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and service management systems
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced service environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Caterpillar dealership or heavy equipment service department
  • Familiarity with construction equipment repair terminology
  • Forklift experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and dispatch field service repairs for Caterpillar construction equipment and related machinery
  • Prioritize service calls based on urgency, equipment downtime, and customer needs
  • Communicate repair status, technician ETA, and job updates to customers and sales representatives
  • Open, edit, review, and invoice service work orders accurately
  • Coordinate parts orders and component repairs to support field technicians
  • Monitor job progress, technician productivity, overtime, and field service expenses
  • Address customer concerns and ensure prompt, professional resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation in service systems and support internal reporting
