Requirements

Welding and fabrication experience
Experience working with heavy steel and structural components
MIG welding experience
Ability to measure, cut, fit, and fabricate components accurately
Experience using common welding and fabrication equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to determine how damaged components should be repaired, reinforced, or replaced
Ability to work independently on fabrication projects
Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Valid driver's license
Team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with heavy-duty fabrication work

Experience with hydraulic equipment and components

State of Michigan Certifications
CDL or willingness to obtain one
Heavy-duty diesel or mechanical repair experience

Responsibilities

Perform welding and fabrication on heavy-duty trucks, gravel trains, dump trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment
Fabricate, repair, modify, and reinforce steel components
Perform structural repairs on truck and trailer components
Weld and repair dump bodies, beds, trailers, brackets, mounts, supports, and related equipment
Fabricate custom parts and components based on the needs of the repair
Measure, cut, fit, form, and assemble steel and other materials
Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as required
Use plasma cutters, torches, grinders, saws, drills, and other fabrication equipment
Remove damaged or worn components and fabricate replacement pieces when necessary
Repair cracks, broken welds, damaged brackets, supports, and structural components
Perform reinforcement and modification work on trucks and trailers
Read measurements, drawings, and specifications to complete fabrication projects
Inspect completed welds and fabrication work for quality and proper fit
Work with diesel technicians and Service Advisors to determine effective repair solutions
Document repairs and materials accurately
Maintain welding and fabrication equipment
Work safely while maintaining a clean and organized work area
Complete repairs with an emphasis on strength, safety, durability, and quality workmanship
