About The Position

The CAT Rental Store is currently looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic who will be responsible for the field troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Cat rental store equipment, ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps, mini excavators, skid steers and aerial work platform equipment. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and possess your Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic certification, then you are exactly who we are looking for!

Requirements

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
• Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail

Nice To Haves

• Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
• Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
• Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with construction tools, small engine equipment, aerial work platform equipment and diesel generator 8KW to 200KW would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar rental equipment, which includes small engine equipment, construction tools, compact construction equipment, and aerial work platform equipment
• Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET as required
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
