About The Position

SCR Mining and Tunnelling is seeking experienced and safety-focused Heavy Duty Mechanics to join their underground mining operations team at Bissett, Manitoba. The primary role involves performing preventive maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment used in the mining industry, including diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and air-operated equipment, as well as mobile equipment, drills, small tools, and miscellaneous equipment. Candidates must be experienced with reading blueprints and maintaining all types of heavy-duty mining equipment. There are multiple vacancies for this position.

Requirements

Trade Certification
Three (3) years’ experience in maintenance and repairs of underground mining equipment
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application

Nice To Haves

Experienced with reading blueprints
Maintaining all types of heavy-duty mining equipment

Responsibilities

Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
Follow daily line-ups, safety procedures, and Manitoba Regulation 212/2011 – Operation of Mines Regulation
Always be physically and mentally fit for work
Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
