About The Position

Finning is growing and seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their Cat Rental Store division in Prince George. This role is responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of the company's rental equipment line. The position is based in Prince George on a 5x2 shift. A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site Access, including Drug & Alcohol testing, and the ability to be fit tested/wear a respirator. Union membership is required.

Requirements

• Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
• Valid driver’s license with a successful recent driver’s abstract
• Good understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Thorough knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine electronic management systems
• Safety conscious team player
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Technical knowledge to perform service tasks on product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers), aerial work platform equipment as well as knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment in a field environment.
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily.
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes).
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team.
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required.
