Heavy Duty Mechanic - Field - Syncrude
About The Position
Finning is hiring 20 Heavy Duty Mechanics to support our customer at Syncrude Basemine in both the shop and field. This role requires experience with large CAT mining equipment. The position involves working a 14x14 continuous shift, rotating days and nights, and providing support to Syncrude Basemine. A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug, Alcohol and fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable. Any future shift changes will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement. Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement.
Requirements
- Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in a mining environment
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
- Ability to conduct and perform duties and leverage resources independently
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and perform internal engine repairs
- Deep Understanding of the Caterpillar product line
- Ability to effectively navigate SIS 2.0 without assistance
- Ability to leverage and prove competency in searching DPSS to assist with troubleshooting and find information
- Ability to independently submit DSN in event troubleshooting requires additional support or has been deemed a requirement

Responsibilities
- Comply and engage with all safety requirements from customer and Finning
- Trouble shooting equipment and perform repairs independently
- Interface with customers, products and sales support
- Working with the supervisor on various tasks and duties as needed
- Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
- Perform component intervention diagnosis and repairs
- Perform field runner duties and in mine repairs as needed
- Perform undercarriage repairs as needed
