About The Position

ProLift Rigging is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic/Crane Tech with expertise in crane and rigging to join their construction team. This role is responsible for performing inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment including cranes, hoists, forklifts, and trailers. The position involves troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, responding to field service calls, conducting safety inspections and load testing, and collaborating with operations teams to minimize equipment downtime. Accurate service documentation is also a key part of this role.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a crane technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or industrial maintenance technician (crane-specific experience required).
  • Factory technical training required. EPIC/CCS, IC-1, LICCON, etc.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret service / parts manuals, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Valid CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work at heights, in varying weather conditions, and occasional overtime/weekend calls.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • technical certification (NCCCO, CMAA, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on cranes, hoists, mobile cranes, forklifts, highway tractors, trailers, and related heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical controls, motors, wiring, and drives.
  • Conduct load testing, safety inspections, and certification work per OSHA and manufacturer standards.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-site repairs at customer locations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts inventories, and job documentation.
  • Operate forklifts, man-lifts, and other support equipment safely.
  • Collaborate with operators and site supervisors to minimize equipment downtime.
