About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in Cranbrook, BC! At GFL, Heavy Duty Mechanics play a crucial role in keeping local neighborhoods clean and safe, by ensuring our trucks and motorized equipment are up and running smoothly. Whether rebuilding, repairing, or performing maintenance on our fleet of equipment, Mechanics are essential to our business—and quickly become our Drivers’ favorite people. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule
